Dear Pro-members,
Thank you for your support once again for
the State Administrative Committee Chair position. I am excited to begin a new
term of office. We have many good things in place in our state and
I am optimistic that we will continue to improve in many areas
of education and excellence. In order to do this, communication
is very important. It is impossible for anyone to keep up on
all the changes of coaches in your gyms. In order to reach
all our professional membership with e-mail updates and information
that comes from the State, Regional and National offices,
I need your help. Please encourage all the professional members
from your clubs to e-mail me at cbennion@usagutah.com with
your club name, the level they are involved with and
put “add
me to USAG Utah e-mail list” in the Subject line.
We will be meeting as a committee on May
12, 2008. Please
notify any committee member or myself with concerns or
anything you would like discussed or voted on by May
7, 2008. These are your representatives for State
Policies.
The minutes will be placed on the web-site following the meeting.
Elections for the State Committee will be held in July. I will send out notification
soon.
Please read on for the State News including State Meet Bid deadlines and Calendaring
Procedures for Competitions this season.
Sincerely,
Cathy Bennion

OPEN STATE CALENDAR MEETING
May 30, 2008
Black Diamond Gymnastics
Starts at 7:30pm
All Clubs planning to host a meet for Fall, Optional or Spring
Season need to have at least
one representative in attendance.
We are going to try a draw this year for weekends to host meets.
All clubs need to notify Cathy Bennion (cbennion@usagutah.com )
with the number of competitions they
intend to host next year. If
you are planning to host a meet in
the Fall, Spring and Optional season,
then you would email me with the
intent to host 3 meets, one in each
season.
There will be up to 3 drawings:
Drawing #1: Any club or organization interested in hosting a meet will be put
into a hat. Names will be drawn out one by one. If your name is drawn, you will
select ONE weekend on which your club would like to host a competition. (You
may select one weekend only at that time.) If your club wishes to host a second
competition, you must wait until drawing #2 to select a second date, etc.
Drawing#2: Any club or organization interested
in hosting a second competition will be put in the hat and the
process will continue as described above. There may be a third
drawing if any club or organization is interested
in hosting a third competition. (Ex:
If you are interested in hosting
a compulsory meet in the fall and
in the spring as well as an optional
meet in the winter, you will want
to be in all three drawings. You
may select your weekends in any order
as the entire year’s calendar
will be available for scheduling.
The committee strongly encourages clubs to collectively schedule
no more than two competitions on a weekend due to availability
of local judges. The state cannot and will not deny any organization
the ability to host a meet, however judges will be assigned by
NAWGJ Utah to the first two competitions on the calendar prior
to any other events. Exception: Any competition hosted in an
outside facility is eligible to be put on the state calendar
rather than going through the above selection process. Please
notify the webmaster with your 2009 dates immediately at webmaster@usagutah.com
Please direct any questions regarding
this calendar meeting to either
Katy Heddens or myself.
Gymnasts changing Clubs:
I would like to encourage all clubs that receive a gymnast
from another club in our state to make sure they did not leave
owing payment to their previous gym. Chances are if they left
owing a bill previously, that you may have the same problem
if they change clubs again.
Spring Compulsory State Championships:
All information regarding the compulsory state meet will be
placed on the website by May 12th. Times, sessions and age
groups will be determined as soon as all entries are received.
The draw will take place as soon as the final qualifying meet
of the season concludes and the Level 5 seeding is completed.
Everyone should have received a reminder notice from GTC that
all entries are due May 7, 2008. If you are not planning to
compete at State Meet, please drop Heather a note at hfullmer4@yahoo.com
